Common Behavior Problems

Excessive Barking

Excessive barking is often a result of overstimulation, where a dog becomes overly reactive to its environment. This behavior typically stems from a lack of balance in their daily routine, whether it be unmet physical, mental, or emotional needs. By addressing the root cause and providing proper structure, we can help dogs develop calmer, more controlled responses.

Biting

Biting, whether from a playful puppy or an overly excited adult dog, often occurs when they struggle to channel their emotions appropriately. It’s a common way for dogs to express frustration or excitement, usually stemming from a lack of balance in their daily routine. By teaching proper impulse control and providing the right outlets for their energy, we can help them develop more appropriate behaviors.

Chewing

Chewing can have several causes, from boredom and teething to frustration or pent-up energy. While occasional boredom is natural, a well-balanced dog should be able to relax without resorting to destructive behaviors. We focus on shaping your dog's mindset to be comfortable with calm moments, reducing the need for excessive chewing.

Uncommon Behavior Problems

Resource Guarding

Resource guarding occurs when a dog feels the need to protect their food, toys, or even their human. This behavior stems from insecurity, but with the right mindset shift, they can learn that sharing is safe and that having others nearby during mealtime is nothing to worry about. Through structured training, we help dogs build confidence and trust, reducing the need to guard their resources.

Pacing/Anxiety

Pacing is often a sign of anxiety and a struggle to relax. This constant movement stems from an inability to be at peace, making it difficult for a dog to settle. We focus on building their confidence in stillness, helping them feel secure and comfortable in a calm state of mind.

Object Fixation

Object fixation occurs when a dog becomes overly focused on a particular item, often because they derive satisfaction or stimulation from it. This behavior can become persistent if not addressed, and we help dogs shift their focus and regain balance through proper training and redirection.

Excessive Licking

Excessive licking often starts as harmless 'kissing,' but it can quickly turn into a repetitive behavior that becomes a compulsive tick. We focus on reshaping their mindset, helping them understand that they don't always need to give that kiss and teaching more appropriate ways to express affection.

We believe in progress over perfection, understanding that each dog’s journey is unique and improvement takes time. Our goal is to make steady advancements toward a balanced and happy companion.
